Veronika Decides To Die
this book is pretty good, i read it, later i saw a movie. i think movie was fucked up a bit by Buffy actress, they should have put there someone unknown but oh well...
i was so disappointed because of the end... i thought she's gonna die...
this is the base for Saint Veronika song (if anyone's interested)

Re: Veronika Decides To Die
not really. i started to dislike it when she woke up after suicide trial. then it was kinda long and she was starting to appreciate life... and then...

I didn't read it, and I'm not sure I ever will. That character sounds a lot like a Bella type to me, and I hate Bella...

Ahaaaa!
Yeah, I couldn't understand the character when I read the book description.
Booohooo, I'm wealthy and have everything but I'm soooo sad, so I just kill me.
Meh. What a stupid ****. And I say this, having depressions since I was eight.

Then it wasn't so bad, I guess.
When you have a bad case nothing can save you but professional help.

Not true. In some cases, professional help worsens it.

true. there are some cases where shrinks can't help. individual cases need unusual help

Really? Tell me examples please. How does professional help worsen a depression?

Oooooh. *facepalm*
No, I'm not, but I had lessons in psychology during my education, plus I have been a patient myself for about 23 years now, and I have a history of depression in my family. (Including suicides.)
Is that enough?

Re: Veronika Decides To Die
A few people who I know have gotten professional help. Most of them it worked for the most part (they got better, but never fully got rid of it), but there's this one person who hated that they had to go every week to tell someone they barely knew, everything about themselves. That almost pushed them of the edge.
I don't know how that person's going now, as it was a while ago, but it definitely worsened it as they felt like killing themselves just so they didn't have to go, because they felt nobody understood them.
That's when professional help doesn't worked.

Well, then he/she should have searched for a new therapist. I know what an odyssey it can be to find the right one to help you - not every therapist is good for you, not every kind of therapy fits everyone.
And that's shit. I spent about ten weeks in a clinic, and it brought me nothing, because I got a therapist that didn't understand me and I didn't understand her.
Fighting against depression is about finding out what is good for you, drawing lines and keeping them, about saying 'No!' when it's enough, about understanding yourself and what brought you there.
And yes, depression can be compared to addiction: Once you had it, it can always come back. It's a lifelong fight against darkness in you.

Re: Veronika Decides To Die
Who wants to actually talk about the book (although I haven't read it, this is getting off-topic)?

So, can anyone explain me the plot? Apart from this rich chick wanting to die?
